Application Rules:
Please confirm and agree to the following terms and conditions before applying.
1. A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access is required to apply and participate. The organizers will not be held responsible for any delays in entry due to inability to enter due to factors such as the device, operating system or browser software used, or problems with the internet connection.
2. False declarations of age, gender, records, etc., and duplicate applications by the same person will not be accepted (with some exceptions). If a false declaration or duplicate application is found, the applicant will be disqualified. If you would prefer not to declare your gender, please consult with the office of the Yokohama Marathon Organizing Committee.
3. Cancellations for personal reasons are not permitted after the participation fee has been paid. However, if you cannot attend due to pregnancy discovered after payment, a partial refund of the participation fee will be issued by completing the designated procedures by the end of September 2026. Please contact us for details regarding refunds and the refund process.Additionally, you cannot change or modify your registration details for personal reasons, except for items that can be changed on your My Page within the registration site. Please confirm all details before submitting your entry.
4. Except as provided in the preceding paragraph, we will not issue any refunds, transfer entry rights to future events, or provide any preferential treatment in the event of a cancellation due to personal circumstances or the revocation of entry rights due to a violation of the terms and conditions.
5. Entries by anyone other than the applicant (illegal entries) are strictly prohibited. If any of these are discovered, the entry, awards, etc. will be cancelled. The organizers will not be liable for any compensation or refunds for false declarations or substitute runners.
6. In order to ensure a smooth and safe start, the waiting blocks will be set according to the "declared time" in order of running ability. In the event that a runner's declared time is incomplete, the runner will start from the last block, but no objection will be accepted.
7. The organizer will not be held responsible for any disadvantages that may result from incomplete or changed email addresses, issues of device or internet connection (malfunctions, etc.), email settings, security software settings, etc., which may prevent the runner from receiving emails sent by the organizer. The organizer does not check for non-delivery or non-received emails, so please check the official website etc. from time to time.
8. The competition may be suspended during the event due to emergency vehicles. In addition, the organizer may cancel the competition or the running of the race if it determines that there is a problem with the continuation of the competition. In addition, the organizer may give instructions regarding safety management and event operation, to which no objections will be accepted.
9. The organizer will not be liable for any delay, loss, or damage caused by public transportation, road conditions, etc. on the day of the event, except in cases of intentional or gross negligence on the part of the organizers. The same shall also apply in the event that a participant is unable to come to Japan due to travel restrictions.
10. Please ensure you are in good health before participating in the event.The organizers assume no liability for any illness, injury, or other accident not attributable to them, except for emergency medical care. Depending on the situation, first aid and other assistance may be provided by staff members of either gender.Compensation for injuries or illnesses caused by accidents during the event may be paid in the form of a condolence payment (not compensation for medical expenses) within the scope of the insurance purchased by the event organizers. However, injuries or illnesses that cannot be determined to have been contracted during the event will not be covered by insurance. If you wish to apply for insurance, please contact us by email within six months after the end of the race. A doctor's certificate may be required when applying.
11. In the event of cancellation due to unforeseen and unexpected reasons such as natural disasters, inclement weather, halting of public transportation, etc., the participation fee (excluding entry and refund fees) will be refunded. However, in the event of cancellation due to an earthquake, volcanic eruption, tsunami, or outbreak of infectious disease, the actual costs incurred at the time of the decision to cancel will be taken into consideration when determining whether or not a refund will be made and the amount of the refund. (No refunds will be made for cancellations after October.) Expenses other than participation fees (such as travel or accommodation) are not eligible for refund.
12. In the event that a refund is due to the cancellation of the event by the organizer, the right to claim a refund shall be deemed waived if no refund application is received after six (6) months from the start of the refund procedure. The refund procedure and method of refund shall be limited to the method designated by the organizers.
13. In addition to these "Application Rules", the organizer will hold the event in accordance with the "Competition Rules" separately stipulated by the organizer.
14. Records and measurements will be taken using a comprehensive system; however, please be aware that they may be affected by various external and environmental factors, so we cannot guarantee the complete accuracy of the data. We appreciate your understanding in advance.
15. The handling of personal information of the event applicants shall be in accordance with the organizer's "Privacy Policy"(https://yokohamamarathon.jp/privacypolicy/) to be described separately.The rights to publish and use personal information such as videos, photographs, articles, records, etc. of the event in newspapers, television, magazines, the Internet, publications, etc. belong to the organizers. In addition, the organizer may sell photos and other media from the event to participants through a business contracted by the organizer.
16. If the national government or the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) issue policies or guidelines regarding infectious disease countermeasures, we will take measures in accordance with those policies or guidelines.
17. A portion of the participation fee will be used as an environmental contribution.
Competition rules:
These rules and regulations are established to facilitate the smooth running of the Yokohama Marathon organized by the Yokohama Marathon Organizing Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Organizer").
1. In addition to these rules, the rules of the Japan Association of Athletics Federations (JAAF) and the International Paralympic Committee (IOC) Rules of Athletics shall also apply to the conduct of the competition.
2. Participants must comply with the various rules and regulations set forth by the organizers and follow the organizers’ instructions for safety management and event operation.
3. The official records of the event will use net time, and awards will be given based on net time.
4. The organizer may set up gates on the race route. The closing time of the gates shall be set by the organizer and made known to the participants in advance.
5. The organizer will set up water stations on the race route. Water stations will provide water, sports drinks, food, etc. However, each water station will close when all the supplies run out.
6. The organizers will not be responsible for any problems caused by food, drink, taping, or other items brought by participants or obtained independently during the race.
7. In the event that the organizer determines during the event that there is a problem with the continuation of the race, the participant must immediately follow the organizer's instructions to stop the race.
8. Only those who have been approved to run by the organizer are allowed to run on the race course.
9. Participants will be disqualified in the following cases
1.) If the participant does not follow the rules and regulations set forth by the organizers
2.) Failure to follow the instructions of the organizers
3.) Failure to comply with the rules and regulations of the facilities used
4.) If the participant does not start by the closing time of the starting gate
5.) If the participant fails to reach each barrier by the closing time
6.) When the judges deem that the participant cannot reach the next barrier closing time
7.) If the moving barrier vehicle operated by the organizer catches up with the participant at the time of the closing of each barrier
8.) When it becomes clear the participant took a shortcut instead of running the predetermined course
9.) If the participant is warned by the judges for giving or receiving assistance that directly affects the running of the course, such as pushing on the participant’s back, and the participant repeatedly gives or receives assistance
10.) If you do not follow the organizer's instructions and try to obstruct the general public from crossing the designated course or the passage of emergency vehicles.
11.) Other cases in which the judges deem the contestant to be disqualified.
10. Participants must not accept help from others. However, the following actions shall not be regarded as assistance in this event.
1.) Touching any part of a participant's body in order to temporarily call out to or care for the participant who falls, stands still, or lies down, etc. by judges, medical first-aid staff, water supply staff, etc.
2.) Possessing or using video equipment, portable music players, walkie-talkies, cellular phones or similar devices on the running track. However, if a portable music player is used, it must be set to a volume at which the participant can hear the emergency staff's instructions or must be worn in one ear only.
3.) Possessing or using devices such as heart rate monitors, speed and distance meters, and stride sensors
4.) Getting a pace from the pacer provided by the organizers.
5.) Participants who have difficulty running alone due to a disability or other reason and must be accompanied by a runner approved by the organizer through formal procedures.
11. Any participant who receives assistance from the medical relief staff beyond the degree specified in the first item of the preceding paragraph, such as the use of a wheelchair or stretcher, life-saving treatment, etc., shall be disqualified. The medical relief staff may confirm with the Participant that he/she will be disqualified before beginning first aid treatment.
12. In the event of injury or illness during the event, participants shall consent to the following:
1.) The medical relief staff shall determine whether the Participant is physically fit to continue the race.
2.) If the medical relief staff determines that the Participant is not physically fit to continue running, the Participant shall be disqualified.
3.) Participants shall not hold the organizer responsible for the method and progress of medical treatment, etc.
13. When a Participant who has difficulty in running alone due to a disability or other reason requires a running companion, the following points shall be noted
1.) A Participant who requires a running companion shall follow the procedures specified by the organizer.
2.) There shall be only one accompanying running companion for the duration of the race.
3.) The running companion may be replaced at a place designated by the organizer.
4.) Guide dogs and other service animals are not permitted to accompany the runner.
5.) Support runners must wear the identification designated by the organizer to clearly identify themselves as support runners.
14. The following acts by participants are prohibited and will result in disqualification.
1.) Running on behalf of another participant
2.) Stopping carelessly near the start/finish line, on the race route, or along the race route, or any other behavior that may lead to an accident and impede the operation of the event
3.) Urinating or defecating outside of the restrooms
4.) Political or religious advocacy, or acts clearly aimed at advertising or publicity
5.) Running the race while pushing a baby stroller
6.) Any act that offends other participants, supporters, etc.
7.) Running with or accompanying anyone other than those authorized by the organizer (including pets)
8.) Consumption of alcohol during the race
9.) Making unnecessary contact with the wall posts, wall surfaces, equipment, etc. on the Metropolitan Expressway
10.) Dangerous behavior such as looking down over the edge of the Metropolitan Expressway
11.) Soliciting donations, signatures, etc.
12.) Any other behavior that interferes or may interfere with the operation of the event.
15. Participants must take every precaution to ensure that taking photos or videos does not interfere with other participants or the event operations.
1.) These are permitted solely for personal records or private use, provided they are not used for business activities or commercial purposes.
2.) In cases where photography poses a safety hazard or interferes with the smooth operation of the event, and the photographer continues to take photographs despite receiving a warning from a referee or other official, the organizer may disqualify the photographer.
16. Participants must not wear any of the following attire (including costumes):
1.) Wearing a mask, cape, covering the entire face, or items that may disturb other participants, supporters, etc.
2.) Clothing that may be dangerous to other participants or supporters, such as clothing that may injure or cause other participants or supporters to fall over
3.) Clothing that makes other participants or supporters uncomfortable
4.) Clothing that promotes political or religious claims or is clearly intended for advertising purposes.
5.) Painting that obscures the color of the face to the extent that it interferes with first-aid efforts or clothing that interferes with the use of an AED.
17. Participants must wear the athlete bibs prepared by the organizer in a clearly visible place as separately instructed.
18. The following vehicles and other traffic shall have priority during the event. Participants must follow the instructions of staff members and drive safely.
1.) Emergency vehicles as stipulated in Article 13 of the Road Traffic Law Enforcement Order
2.) Vehicles driven by facility managers for facility management
3.) Vehicles operated by the organizer in relation to the hosting of the race
4.) Other vehicles approved by the organizer.
19. Any changes to these Rules and Regulations shall be immediately notified to participants via the website or other media.
