◎Distance 50 miles (approximately 80km),Total Vertical Kilometers 5500m
◎Distance 50km Total Vertical Kilometers 3700m
This race will be certified as qualifying race for UTMF/ STY. (TBD)
*50 miles applicants, who pass 50km checkpoint, will receive points for 50 km finish even they don't finish 50 miles.

8:20pm: Race Finish (Cut-off time: 50 miles/11.5 hours and 50 km/11 hours)

- Race Entry Fee
- ◎50 miles 18,000 JPY
◎50 km 15,000 JPY
※Insurance and Entrance fee for Enryakuji temple admission fee will be included.
※No cancellation or refund after your application is received.
- Entry Qualifications
- Entrants must be a minimum of 16 years of age to enter the race, and must be capable to satisfy the following conditions. (However, minors need consent from parents)
<50 Miles Course>
・Those who are 16 years old or older, and who had completed the trail run race over 100km or full-marathon experienced in completing within 3 hours
・Must be capable to follow the whole trail without getting lost.
<50 km Course>
・Those who are 16 years old or older, and who had completed the trail run race over 40km or full-marathon experienced in completing within 4.5 hours
・Must have experience of finishing Full-Marathon or trail running race over 30km.
・Must be capable to follow the whole trail without getting lost.
- Cut-Off Times
- Due to the race operation, we will be having Cut-Off times for each checkpoint.
(Will be announced via our official website.)
*For the 50-mile course, the time limit at 50 km is 7 hours 10 minutes. Please acknowledge it beforehand and make an entry.
- Equipment Requirements
- •Outfits suitable for running or trail running.
•Shoes (specified for trail running)
•Lights(There will be light checks at certain points. Flashlight of a cellphone is not allowed.)
•Bear Bells (Will be used at specific route)
•Water (more than 1L), energy drinks, jells, snacks
(There will be aid-stations along the course, but due to the trails with ups and downs, please bring your own water.)
Please bring your own cups.
(There are no paper cups at aid-stations due to an environmental reason.)

•Stocks are not permitted.
- Race Regulations
- Please carry your own required equipment during the race.
Racers will be competing for their total time at official designated course.
For the each courses, racers have to go through check points before the Cut-Off time. Those racers who cannot make it through before the Cut-Off time will be dropped from the race. Please follow our instructions from official race marshals.
Please run the designated course.
There will be walking zone in the racecourse. (ex. Enryakuji Main area etc.)
If you are willing to retire from the race, please ask our staff members along the course, such as staffs at aid-stations. And please turn in your chip.
Please force to pass other racers during hazardous area. Please tell other racers when you are passing on ridges.
Please no littering.
Please leave animals, plants, and other environments alone.
The course will be including hiking trails, single tracks, and ridgelines. Please follow our instructions and regulations, and race at your own risk.
If you cannot follow our instructions or rules, you will be disqualified from the race.
If we find racers having serious trouble to complete the race by our official judgment, we will be withdrawer the racer from the race.
The course will be including long steep up hills and down hills. Please monitor yourself, and control your own pace.
- Other Ragulations
- Those races who is against instructions and regulations listed above will be disqualified from the race.
The entry fee will not be refunded even under the case of cancellations due to personal reasons, no show, natural disaster, or cancellations of event. Please understand before you apply for the race.
There are no category change or cancellations because of personal reasons after turning in the applications.
Due to natural disasters or bear alerts, the course can be changed or the race can be completely cancelled by officials. Please understand that there is no refund on entry fee under those reasons as well.
The Participant indemnifies the Organizer against liability for damages suffered by third parties as a result of an act or omission relating to the Event that is attributable to a Participant.
The Participant must have sufficient insurance to cover the risk of liability for such damages.
This race will be organized and run by minimal number of volunteer and staff members. We would appreciate it if you could support and cooperate with us.
- Parking Lot
- For parking lots, we will accept reservations on a first-come-first-served basis.
Please apply at the same time for entry.
Parking lot is free, but, it will be need a toll fee for Hieizan drive way.
There are limited numbers, Please come and join the group.
Basically we are not able to accept additional request after entry.

"I (participant) understand the course of The 4th Mt.Hiei INTERNATIONAL TRAIL RUN 2018 is involving the danger, and will participate it self-responsibility.
And, I observe those regulations and I follow the instruction of the organizer for smooth operation. I will make sure to check and control own health condition and safety. I swear if I feel something strange, I will withdraw the race quickly."
I understand as participant of trail running, the course is in the mountains and the health condition might be changed rapidly because of the characteristic of unstable nature environment. I understand very well that there are interferes in the mountains for first-aid or emergency.
My (participant's) health condition is good and will not expected happening the any problems. I report if I have any allergy, hypersensitivity, medical history and religious or something need to be mentioned for emergency medical treatment.
"I (participant) pay enough attention for safe and health condition during the race. Neither cause a damage nor be damaged during the race, the organizer will not take any responsibility, and we will solve all these case by own responsibility.
Also, I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to safely complete the race, which decision is at the sole discretion of the race official and I agree lack of a decision does not create any liability whatsoever.
The organizers are not held liable for accidents, loss, injuries and diseases during the event. Participants will not make a claim for damages against the organizers."

I understand it will be compensated for accidents, injuries and diseases for runners within the coverage of the event insurance. Participant, family members or relatives will not make a claim for damages against the organizers.
"In an earthquake, storm/flood damage, snowfall, accidents, epidemic disease, or any other reasons, the organizers will assess the situation and make a decision concerning scaling down/cancelling the race accordingly. Moreover, if the damage or lost of the equipment and cause the difficulty to the participation,
I understand that is no responsibility to the organizer and accept to not claim it to the organizer."
I (participant) understand that during the race or in related activities, I may be photographed, filmed, and/or videotaped. And, I agree the personal information will be used to the specific ministry request or business reports. I also agree to allow my name, photo, video or film likeness to be used for any legitimate promotional purpose by the event holders, producers, sponsors, organizers and assigns.

In case of there are any contention, the first trial will be at Otsu District Court, and the we will follow the Japanese law.
